Set up DashVue with the guided setup wizard
How the DashVue setup wizard works: goals, business profile, eBay connection, and first sync. Every step is skippable.
The guided setup wizard is the fastest way to get DashVue ready for your eBay business. It takes you through five short screens: a welcome step, picking your goals, a quick business and VAT profile, connecting your eBay account, and your first sync. This article walks through each step and what it is for.
Before you start
You do not need to have anything ready in advance. Every step in the wizard is optional and skippable, so you can move straight to connecting eBay if you already know how you want DashVue set up, or skip everything and explore the dashboard first and fill in details later.
The five steps
- Welcome. A short introduction to what DashVue does and what the wizard will set up for you.
- Pick your goals. Quick-pick options based on the kind of seller you are, for example someone mainly focused on profit tracking, someone managing a lot of listings, or someone who wants help with tax and VAT. Your picks just help DashVue highlight the most relevant parts of the dashboard for you first. You can change your mind later, nothing here is locked in.
- Business and VAT profile. A short set of questions about your business, including whether you are VAT registered. This helps DashVue show the right figures (for example, VAT inclusive or exclusive) in your profit and loss reporting.
- Connect eBay. This links your eBay account to DashVue so it can pull in your sales, fees, and listings. DashVue works with one eBay account at a time, on the UK eBay site.
- First sync. The final step kicks off DashVue pulling in your recent eBay data so your dashboard has something to show you as soon as you finish setup.
Connecting eBay: read-only vs Full Access
When you connect your eBay account, eBay will ask what level of access to grant. This matters for what you can do in DashVue afterwards.
Full Access is needed to publish or push changes
A read-only eBay connection lets DashVue import your sales and draft listings for you to review, but it cannot publish anything or push changes back to eBay. To publish listings or push updates from DashVue, you need to grant Full Access when connecting your eBay account. Listings that DashVue publishes are fixed-price (Buy It Now) listings, not auctions.
Skipping and re-running the wizard
Every screen in the wizard has a skip option, so you are never forced to answer a question or connect eBay before you are ready. If you skip the eBay connection, you can connect it later from your account settings.
If your goals or business details change, or you just want to go through the setup steps again, you do not need to contact support. You can re-run the setup wizard at any time from your account settings.
Stock levels stay on eBay
During setup and afterwards, DashVue reads your eBay data to build your dashboard, but it never writes stock quantity back to eBay. Your eBay listings remain the source of truth for stock levels.
