Fix a broken or expired eBay connection (reconnect)
How to read your eBay connection health, spot expiry warnings, and reconnect after a sync fails with a sign-in expired error.
eBay sign-ins do not last forever, and every so often DashVue’s connection to your eBay account needs to be refreshed. This article explains how to check your connection health, what the expiry countdown warnings mean, and exactly what to do when a sync fails with a “your eBay sign-in expired” error.
Where to check your connection health
Go to Settings → eBay. Your eBay connection card here shows the current health of the connection between DashVue and your eBay account, alongside the controls for syncing and reconnecting. Check this page first any time syncing seems to have stopped working or figures look out of date.
Understanding the expiry countdown warning
eBay sign-ins are time limited. Before yours runs out, the connection card shows a token expiry warning so you have advance notice, rather than being caught out by a failed sync with no explanation. When you see this warning:
- Go to Settings → eBay.
- Read the expiry warning on the connection card to see how much time is left.
- Use the Reconnect option on the card to refresh your sign-in before it expires.
Reconnecting ahead of time takes a moment and avoids any gap in syncing, since DashVue cannot pull in new listings, orders, fees, feedback or offers once the connection has actually expired.
When a sync fails with “your eBay sign-in expired”
If you did not catch the warning in time, a sync will fail and show an error telling you that your eBay sign-in has expired. This is expected and straightforward to fix.
- Go to Settings → eBay.
- Find the eBay connection card. It will show the same sync-auth error explaining that your sign-in has expired.
- Select Reconnect and sign in to eBay again when prompted.
- Once reconnected, trigger a sync so DashVue can catch up on anything it missed while the connection was down.
Reconnecting does not lose your data
Reconnecting only refreshes your eBay sign-in. It does not clear or reset anything already synced into DashVue, your existing listings, orders, fees, feedback and offers all stay exactly as they are. Reconnecting simply lets DashVue carry on syncing new activity from where it left off.
What an expired connection means for publishing
While your connection is expired, DashVue cannot sync data in or push anything out to eBay. Bear in mind that publishing listings or pushing changes back to eBay always needs a Full Access connection, a read-only connection can still let you draft and view listings in DashVue, but not publish them. Reconnecting after an expiry keeps whichever access level, read-only or Full Access, you had set up before.
