Feature · eBay Invoice Generator
The 11 HMRC fields eBay's “Send invoice” misses.
eBay's built-in Send invoice ships maybe 4 of HMRC's 11 required UK VAT fields. DashVue gives you all 11. Branded, sequentially numbered, three VAT schemes (Standard, Flat Rate, Margin), one click — with a permanent share link the buyer can use any time. Built for UK eBay sellers who need a proper VAT invoice for B2B buyers, accountants, or HMRC audit.

Without DashVue
eBay's built-in tool
eBay's “Send invoice” tool was built to confirm a combined-order total before payment, not to issue a UK VAT invoice. Sellers who need a proper HMRC-compliant document — for B2B buyers, accountants, or audit — have to create one outside eBay every time.
- Open Seller Hub → Sold → Send invoice → confirm. Per order.
- No VAT breakdown shown to the buyer
- Not HMRC-compliant — ~7 of 11 fields missing
- No branding, no logo, no custom fields
- No way to bulk-export anything for your accountant
With DashVue

- Three VAT schemes — Standard 20%, Flat Rate, Margin (second-hand goods)

- Permanent share link per invoice — paste into eBay messages, email, anywhere. No buyer account required.

Every field HMRC requires, on every invoice
Each numbered badge on the invoice maps to the field list. eBay's Send Invoice ships 4 of these. DashVue ships all 11.

Frequently asked
UK eBay VAT invoice FAQ
Six questions UK eBay sellers ask before switching off “Send invoice” for good. If yours isn't here, email support@dashvue.co.uk.
Are DashVue invoices HMRC-compliant?
Yes. Every invoice DashVue generates includes all 11 fields HMRC requires on a UK VAT invoice — sequential invoice number, date of issue, supplier name and address, VAT registration number, customer name and address, description of goods, quantity, unit price ex-VAT, VAT rate, total VAT amount, and total amount including VAT. The format matches what HMRC expects to see in an audit and what business buyers' accountants need to reclaim input VAT.
Which VAT schemes does DashVue support?
Three: Standard 20%, Flat Rate Scheme, and Margin Scheme (for second-hand goods). You pick your scheme in settings once. DashVue then renders the correct VAT breakdown on every invoice — for Flat Rate this means showing the buyer the standard-rate VAT they can reclaim while you account internally at the flat percentage; for Margin Scheme it suppresses the VAT line entirely as HMRC requires.
Does the buyer need a DashVue account to view their invoice?
No. Every invoice has a permanent public share link — paste it into an eBay message, an email, or anywhere else. The buyer clicks and sees the PDF in their browser, no signup, no login. The link doesn't expire. You can also download the PDF and attach it directly if you prefer.
Can I add my logo and brand colours?
Yes. Upload your logo once in settings, set a brand colour for the header strip, and customise the footer text (e.g. company number, returns address, payment terms). Every invoice DashVue generates from then on uses your branding — no per-invoice fiddling.
How are invoice numbers generated?
Sequentially, in the order invoices are created. The default format is INV-YYYY-NNNNN (e.g. INV-2026-00231) which satisfies HMRC's audit-traceability requirement. You can change the prefix and the starting number in settings — useful if you're migrating from an existing system and need numbering to continue from where your last invoice left off.
Can I bulk-export invoices for my accountant?
Yes. Go to Settings → Invoices → Export, pick a date range (or use the tax-year / last-month presets), and DashVue produces a single ZIP containing every PDF in the range plus a CSV summary with invoice number, date, customer, net, VAT, and gross for each. Drop the whole ZIP into Dropbox or email it — your accountant has everything they need.
What the invoice generator doesn't do
Honest scope, so you know what you're getting:
- Doesn't replace eBay's order-confirmation flow. If you need to send a combined-order total to a buyer before they pay, that's still eBay's Send Invoice. DashVue's invoices are the proper UK VAT document for after the sale.
- Doesn't auto-send to every buyer. You decide when to issue an invoice — typically only when a B2B buyer requests one. Auto-issuing is on the roadmap as an optional setting.
- Doesn't handle non-UK VAT. DashVue is UK-only at launch (eBay.co.uk + GB VAT). EU OSS / IOSS invoices aren't supported yet — track the blog for when that ships.
- Doesn't generate credit notes / refund invoices yet. If you partially refund an order, the original invoice stays as the VAT record and you note the adjustment in your accounting separately. Credit notes are planned.
