Why buying labels needs a Business eBay account
Commercial courier rates require a Business eBay account. Individual sellers can still pick and print, but not buy labels in DashVue.
If the option to buy a shipping label is greyed out or missing on your account, this article explains why: commercial carrier pricing is only available to registered Business eBay accounts, and what you can still do in DashVue if you sell as an individual.
Why the account type matters
The discounted courier rates DashVue shows when buying a label are commercial rates, negotiated for business shipping volumes. Couriers only make these rates available through accounts registered as a business, so DashVue can only offer label purchasing to sellers whose eBay account is registered as a Business account. If your eBay account is registered as an Individual (private) seller, you are not eligible for these rates, and DashVue cannot buy a label on your behalf.
Individual sellers cannot buy labels through DashVue
Buying a shipping label needs a Business eBay account because commercial carrier pricing is restricted to business accounts. If your eBay account is registered as an Individual seller, you can still pick a parcel size and print existing labels or pick lists in DashVue, but you cannot use DashVue to buy a new label. To unlock label buying, you would need to register your eBay account as a Business account with eBay directly.
What Individual sellers can still do
Being on an Individual eBay account does not lock you out of DashVue’s shipping tools entirely. You can still:
- Work through your orders on the shipping page and today’s orders list.
- Pick a parcel size for each order.
- Print pick lists to help you pack and dispatch orders efficiently.
What is not available is the label purchase step itself, since that is the part that depends on commercial carrier pricing tied to a Business eBay account.
How to check your eBay account type
Your account type is set on eBay, not in DashVue. If you are not sure whether your eBay account is registered as Business or Individual, check your account settings on eBay. Registering as a Business account is a decision to make with eBay directly, and it may have implications for your seller obligations, so consider it separately from your DashVue setup.
