See the full profit breakdown for an order
Expand any order in Sales to see sale price, eBay fees, promoted-listing cost, postage, COGS, refunds and net profit in one place.
Every order in your Sales list can be expanded to show exactly how its net profit was worked out: the sale price, every fee eBay charged, what postage cost, what the item cost you, and any refund that was paid out. This article explains what each figure means and why some sellers see fewer rows than others.
How to open the breakdown
- Go to Sales.
- Find the order you want to check.
- Click anywhere on the row to expand it.
- The expanded panel opens showing the order details alongside a “Money In” and “Money Out” breakdown for that order.
- Click the row again, or the close icon, to collapse it.
What “Money In” shows
This is the item sale price, the amount the buyer paid for the item itself (excluding tax, which is shown separately in the order details).
What “Money Out” shows
The costs are broken out line by line so you can see what ate into the sale:
- Cost of goods: what you paid for the item, if you have recorded a cost.
- eBay fees: the selling fees eBay charged on the sale.
- Promoted listing: shown as a sub-line under eBay fees when the item was promoted, since the promoted-listing fee is part of the total eBay fee rather than a separate charge.
- Postage label: what shipping the order cost.
- Refund: shown when a refund was paid out on the order.
Below these, Net profit is the final line: the sale price minus every cost above.
Profit rows can be hidden for teammates
Cost of goods and net profit are only shown to teammates who have the view-COGS permission. A teammate without that permission still sees the order details, sale price, eBay fees and postage, but the cost of goods and net profit rows do not appear for them. If you expect to see these figures and cannot, ask the account owner to check your permissions.
See the related articles below for more on managing teammate permissions and recording cost of goods.
