Print or share an invoice for an order
How to print an HMRC-style invoice for an eBay order or share a public link with the buyer, covering standard, flat rate and margin VAT.
Every order in DashVue can produce a proper, HMRC-style invoice. This article covers how to print one for your own records or a buyer, how to send a buyer a link to view it themselves, and how DashVue decides what the invoice shows depending on your VAT scheme.
Where to find it
Open Sales in DashVue and find the order you need. From the order, open the Print Invoice option. This opens an invoice view built for that order, ready to print or download, plus a share link you can send to the buyer.
Printing an invoice
- Go to Sales and locate the order.
- Open Print Invoice for that order.
- Use your browser’s print dialog to print it, or save it as a PDF, from the invoice view.
The invoice pulls the order’s details directly from DashVue, so it reflects the price, fees and VAT treatment already recorded against that order.
Sharing a link instead
If a buyer asks for a copy of their invoice, you do not need to email a PDF. Each order has its own public invoice link that anyone with the link can open and view, without needing to sign in. Copy the link from the invoice view and send it to the buyer directly, for example in an eBay message.
VAT schemes it handles
DashVue’s invoice adapts to how you are registered for VAT, so you do not need a separate template for each scheme:
- Standard VAT: shows VAT charged in the normal way.
- Flat Rate Scheme: reflects the flat rate treatment rather than standard VAT breakdowns.
- Margin Scheme: for sellers of second-hand or margin-eligible goods, the invoice reflects margin scheme rules rather than showing VAT on the full sale price.
This means the same Print Invoice flow works whether you are on standard VAT, the Flat Rate Scheme, or the Margin Scheme, and you do not need to pick a scheme manually each time.
One fixed invoice layout
There is currently a single, fixed invoice layout. You cannot choose an alternative template or restyle the invoice yourself. The content correctly reflects standard, flat rate and margin VAT as above, but the visual layout itself is not customisable.
Keep records for your own accounting
Printing or sharing an invoice does not change anything about the order in DashVue. It is a document generated from the order’s existing details, so it is worth keeping a copy for your own records in addition to sending one to the buyer.
