Fix the postage cost on an order so your profit is right
Click the postage figure on an order to type the real label cost when you shipped outside DashVue, so net profit recalculates correctly.
If you bought a postage label somewhere other than eBay, or the label cost DashVue picked up is not the one you actually paid, you can type the correct figure straight into the order and your net profit recalculates on the spot. This article covers how to do it and exactly what that edit does and does not affect.
Why the postage figure can be wrong
DashVue pulls in postage costs it can see from your eBay account. If you bought a label through a courier, a third-party postage site, or the Post Office rather than through eBay, DashVue has no way to know what you paid, so the figure on the order may be missing, estimated, or simply wrong. That throws off the net profit shown for that sale.
How to correct it
- Go to Sales.
- Find the order with the incorrect postage figure.
- Click the row to expand it.
- Click the postage cost shown for that order.
- Type the real amount you paid for the label.
- Confirm the edit. Net profit for that order recalculates immediately using the new figure.
This is an internal override only
Editing the postage cost only updates DashVue’s own records so your profit reporting is accurate. Nothing is sent to eBay: the listing, the order, and eBay’s own postage records are untouched. Use this to correct your own books, not to change anything the buyer or eBay sees.
When to use this
This is most useful when you shipped an order outside DashVue’s visibility, for example buying a label directly from a courier or the Post Office rather than through eBay. It is also worth checking any order where the postage figure looks obviously wrong, such as showing as zero or far higher or lower than what you actually paid, since an incorrect postage cost feeds directly into an incorrect net profit for that sale.
