Set up and schedule your pick list
Set your pick list's default sort, filter, grouping and view, add a printer email, then schedule a daily copy emailed to your printer.
Your pick list settings decide how orders are sorted and grouped every time you open the picking page, and let you have a copy emailed straight to your printer each morning without opening DashVue at all. This article covers the default view options, the printer email, and how to schedule an automatic daily send.
Where to find pick list settings
Go to Settings → Pick list. The page has four tabs: General for the default sort, filter, grouping and view, Automations for scheduling the daily send, Auto print for the printer email that the schedule sends to, and History, a log of past pick-list print jobs.
Choose your default sort, filter and view
On the General tab, set how you want the pick list to look by default whenever it is generated, whether that is from the picking page or from a scheduled send:
- Default sort order: how orders are ordered on the list. The choices are Date (oldest first), SKU (alphabetical), Buyer name and Item title.
- Date range filter: which orders appear. The choices are All unfulfilled, Today only, Last 7 days and All orders.
- Group by item: consolidate identical items into one row with a total quantity, so multiples of the same SKU are picked together instead of one row per order.
- Compact mode: a denser layout that fits more orders per page, useful if you pick a high volume of orders each day.
Use the Preview Pick List button to open a sample list in a new tab and check how your choices look before you save. Once saved, these settings become the default every time a pick list is generated, so you do not need to reconfigure the layout each day.
Set up a printer email first
Before you can schedule an automatic send, DashVue needs a printer to email the pick list to. Go to the Auto print tab, turn auto-print on, and add your printer's address in the Picklist printer email address field. DashVue works with cloud email-print services such as Epson Connect, HP ePrint, Canon Cloud Print and Brother Cloud, so any printer that can accept a print job by email will work. Use Send test print to check a page arrives, and leave the field blank if you would rather reuse the printer you already set up for invoices.
Scheduling needs a printer email first
The daily schedule on the Automations tab stays locked until a printer email is on file, either a dedicated pick-list address on the Auto print tab or the one already set for your invoice printer. Until then the Automations tab shows a "Set up Auto-print first" prompt with a link back to the Auto print settings.
Schedule a daily pick list
Once a printer email is saved (or inherited from your invoice printer), go to the Automations tab to schedule a daily copy of your pick list:
- Switch on Email a daily pick-list automatically.
- Set the Send time, for example first thing before you start packing. This is UK local time and adjusts for BST. The scheduler checks every 15 minutes, so your pick list may arrive up to 15 minutes after the time you set.
- Choose the days of the week the send should run on.
- Save. DashVue will then email that day’s pick list, formatted using your General tab defaults, to your printer email on the days and time you chose. The Statusline shows when it was last sent.
This is a built-in DashVue feature, so if you are moving over from another workflow there is nothing to migrate here beyond setting it up fresh.
Keeping the schedule accurate
Review settings if your workflow changes
If you change printers, printer email, sort order or grouping later, update the relevant tab and the next scheduled send will use the new settings automatically. There is nothing to resend manually.
