What Ask DashVue can and can't answer
What Ask DashVue is built to help with, and the honest limits: no pricing advice, no market data, no tax advice, your account only.
This article sets honest expectations for Ask DashVue, the AI assistant built into your account, so you know what to ask it and where to go instead for the things it is not built to answer.
What Ask DashVue is for
Ask DashVue answers questions about your own account: your listings, orders, profit figures, fees, messages, and the other data DashVue has already pulled in from your eBay account. It uses your monthly allowance of AI actions (every account gets 250 free AI actions a month, with an hourly cap, and optional AI Lite, AI Pro, or AI Elite packs if you need more).
What it will not do
Ask DashVue is deliberately scoped. It will not do the following, even if you ask directly:
- Recommend a price. It will not tell you what to price a listing at, or whether a price is too high or too low.
- Give competitor or market data. It does not know what other sellers are charging, how a category is trending, or what is selling well beyond your own account.
- Give tax advice. It can show you the figures DashVue has calculated, but it will not tell you what you owe, what you can claim, or how to file.
- See beyond your own account. It only knows your data. It has no visibility into other sellers, other stores, or eBay-wide information.
- Answer in a language other than English. Ask DashVue is English-only for now.
These are hard limits, not settings
Ask DashVue will not give price recommendations, competitor or market data, or tax advice, and it only ever answers from your own account’s data, in English. This is by design, not a bug or a plan restriction, so asking again or upgrading will not unlock these answers.
Where to go instead
For the questions above, use a tool built for that job:
- Pricing and market research: eBay’s own Terapeak tool, which shows sold-item and market trend data.
- Tax advice: HMRC guidance, or your accountant. DashVue’s figures can support that conversation, but they are not a substitute for advice.
- Data in another format or language: use DashVue’s Export feature to get your figures out as a file you can translate, share, or work with elsewhere.
Getting the most out of it
Ask questions about what is actually in your account: profit on a specific order, why a fee looks the way it does, the status of a message, or how a listing is performing. The more specific the question is to your own data, the more useful the answer will be.
