Reply to a buyer's message
How to write and send a reply to a buyer from DashVue, the character limit, the send shortcut, and when DashVue sends you to eBay instead.
This article shows you how to type and send a reply to a buyer from the Messages screen in DashVue, including the character limit, the keyboard shortcut for sending, and the cases where DashVue cannot send the reply for you.
Reply from a conversation
Open the conversation with the buyer you want to reply to. Type your reply into the composer at the bottom of the thread, then send it.
- Go to Messages and select the buyer’s conversation.
- Click into the reply box at the bottom of the thread.
- Type your reply.
- Send it by clicking the send button, or using the keyboard shortcut below.
Character limit and the send shortcut
A reply can be up to 4,000 characters. If you go over that, shorten your message before sending.
To send without touching the mouse, press Ctrl+Enter (Cmd+Enter on a Mac) while your cursor is in the reply box.
When your reply does not go through DashVue
Reply routing has a limit
DashVue can send your reply through eBay only when the conversation is tied to both a listing and a buyer. If a thread is missing one of those (for example, a general enquiry that is not linked to a specific listing), DashVue cannot route the reply through eBay. In that case, DashVue will point you to eBay Seller Hub so you can reply there instead.
This is not a setting you can change. It depends on how eBay has attached the conversation to a listing and buyer, so treat the prompt to use Seller Hub as the normal path for those threads, not an error.
Teammate permissions
Teammates need the right permission
If you have teammates on your account, they need the “messages reply” permission before they can send replies to buyers. Without it, they can view conversations but not reply from DashVue.
Check a teammate’s permissions if they can see a conversation but the reply box is not letting them send.
