Your buyer messages inbox, explained
How DashVue’s Messages inbox syncs eBay buyer messages, groups them by buyer, and flags the ones needing a reply.
This article explains what the Messages inbox in DashVue is for, how it keeps itself up to date with eBay, and how it is organised so you can quickly find the buyer conversations that still need a reply.
What the Messages inbox does
The Messages inbox is a read and reply view of your eBay buyer messages, brought into DashVue so you do not have to work inside eBay’s own Messages screen. It syncs from eBay automatically every 10 minutes, so new buyer messages, and any replies sent from eBay directly, will appear here without you needing to trigger a manual refresh.
Rather than showing messages as a flat, unsorted list, DashVue groups every message into a single thread per buyer. If a buyer has messaged you more than once, whether about the same order or a different one, you see one continuous conversation with them instead of separate, disconnected entries.
The “Needs a reply” queue
To help you work through your inbox efficiently, DashVue separates out a “Needs a reply” queue: the threads where the last message was from the buyer and you have not yet responded. This is the quickest way to see, at a glance, which conversations are waiting on you, rather than scrolling through every thread to check.
Once you reply to a thread, it moves out of the “Needs a reply” queue. If the buyer messages again afterwards, it will reappear there.
Listing and order context
Buyer messages are rarely useful in isolation, so each thread carries a context panel showing the listing and order the conversation relates to, where eBay has provided that information with the message. This means you can see what item and order a buyer is asking about without switching over to eBay or to your own Orders page to look it up separately.
What the inbox is not
The Messages inbox is intentionally a plain inbox, not a ticketing system or a customer relationship management (CRM) tool. It is worth being clear about what that means in practice.
No statuses, assignment, tags or routing
DashVue’s Messages inbox does not have ticket statuses (such as open, pending or closed), does not let you assign conversations to teammates, does not support tags or labels, and does not route messages automatically. It is a synced, grouped, read-and-reply view of your eBay messages, nothing more. If you need formal ticketing workflows, you will need a dedicated helpdesk tool alongside it.
In short: use the Messages inbox to read what buyers are saying, see the “Needs a reply” queue to know who is waiting on you, use the context panel to understand which listing or order a message is about, and reply from there. For anything beyond that, such as team workflows or conversation tracking over time, treat this as a simple inbox rather than a support desk.
