Turn Ask DashVue on or off and manage your data
How to enable Ask DashVue, see what data it shares, turn it off again, and permanently delete your chat history.
Ask DashVue is opt-in. This article covers what you agree to when you switch it on, how to switch it off again, and how to permanently delete your question and answer history.
Where to find the setting
Go to Settings → Ask DashVue. This page has two sections: an “Opt-in” card that controls whether the assistant is switched on, and a “Chat history” card that lets you delete everything you have asked it.
What turning it on actually agrees to
Ask DashVue only works once you give a one-time consent. Enabling it means each question you type, plus a small extract of your DashVue data needed to answer it, is sent to Anthropic to generate the reply.
What happens to that data at Anthropic
Anthropic processes your question and the data extract to generate an answer, but does not train its models on it. This consent is recorded against a version number, so if DashVue ever changes what it shares or how, you will be asked to consent again before the new version applies.
Turning Ask DashVue on
- Open Settings → Ask DashVue.
- In the “Opt-in” card, read the description of what gets shared with Anthropic.
- Select Enable Ask DashVue.
- You will see a confirmation once it is active, and the card will show your consent as enabled. You can now ask it questions from anywhere it appears in the dashboard.
Turning Ask DashVue off
- Open Settings → Ask DashVue.
- In the “Opt-in” card, select Disable Ask DashVue.
- Confirm in the dialog. Once confirmed, any new questions are refused until you enable it again.
Disabling does not delete your history
Turning Ask DashVue off only stops it from processing new questions. Everything you have already asked stays saved. If you want that gone too, delete your history separately, as described below. You will also see a banner on the Ask DashVue settings page whenever the assistant is switched off, whether you disabled it yourself or an admin on your account did, with a link back to re-enable it.
Deleting your chat history
Your past questions and answers are kept so you can review them later, and as a record of what the assistant told you. They are stored until you delete them, or until your eBay account is closed, at which point they are wiped automatically.
- Open Settings → Ask DashVue.
- In the “Chat history” card, select Delete my history.
- Confirm in the dialog. This removes every question and answer you have ever asked, and it cannot be undone, so only confirm if you are sure.
Deleting history does not affect your opt-in
Clearing your history is separate from your consent setting. You can delete everything you have asked while leaving Ask DashVue switched on, or leave your history intact while switching the assistant off.
