The KPI tiles above your listings

What the five stat tiles above your listings grid mean, and why some hide for teammates without cost access.

Above your listings grid sits a row of stat tiles that summarise your whole stock at a glance. This article explains what each tile means, where the numbers come from, and the two things to know before you rely on them: the ex VAT toggle and the teammate permission that can hide the money tiles.

The five tiles

The tiles sit above the listings grid and roll up straight from the rows below them. As you filter or search the grid, the tiles reflect whatever set of listings is currently in view, not just your full stock.

  • Active listings: the count of listings currently live.
  • Total stock value: the combined cost of the stock you are holding, based on the cost you have set for each item.
  • Potential revenue: what you would take in if every listing shown sold at its current asking price.
  • Average margin: the average profit margin across the listings shown, using each item’s cost and price.
  • Low stock alerts: a count of listings that have dropped to a low quantity and may need restocking.

Because these figures are a roll-up, they are only as accurate as the rows feeding them. A listing with no cost set will not contribute a reliable number to total stock value or average margin, so it is worth keeping item costs up to date if you want these tiles to mean something.

The ex VAT toggle

If you are VAT registered, there is a toggle that switches the money tiles between including and excluding VAT. Turning it on shows total stock value and potential revenue calculated ex VAT, which is usually the more useful view if you are comparing these figures against your VAT return or other ex VAT reporting elsewhere in DashVue.

Ex VAT is a display toggle

The ex VAT toggle only changes how the tiles are displayed. It does not change the underlying cost or price data stored against each listing, so you can switch it on and off at any time without affecting your figures elsewhere.

Money tiles and teammate access

Total stock value, potential revenue, and average margin are all built from cost data, so DashVue treats them as sensitive in the same way it treats cost of goods sold generally.

Money tiles need COGS access

If a teammate does not have access to cost of goods data, the money tiles (total stock value, potential revenue, and average margin) will not show for them. They will still see active listings and low stock alerts, since neither of those depends on cost. If a teammate says the money tiles are missing, check their permissions before assuming something is broken.

This split exists so that store owners can let a wider team work in the listings grid, such as fulfilling orders or managing stock levels, without exposing margin and cost figures to everyone who has a login.
