Turn an existing eBay listing into a reusable template

If you already have a listing you like, whether it is one of yours or one you found on eBay, you do not have to rebuild its look by hand. The AI Template Converter can turn an existing listing into a new, reusable template that you can review and reuse across your other listings.

Convert a listing from a URL or item ID

Paste the URL of an eBay listing, or just its item ID, into the AI Template Converter. DashVue looks the listing up through eBay’s official Browse API, so it is reading the listing’s public data the same way any authorised eBay app would, rather than scraping the page. AI then rebuilds the listing’s design as a new template, with merge fields in place of the fixed details so the template can be reused for other items.

1. Open the AI Template Converter from the Templates area.
2. Paste the eBay listing URL or item ID you want to base a template on.
3. Let AI convert the design. This uses one of your AI actions.
4. Review the result, which opens straight in the designer for you to adjust.

Converting your own description or HTML instead

If you do not want to point the converter at a live eBay listing, the Templates area also has a “Convert from HTML” option in the designer’s footer. Paste in an existing description or a block of HTML you already have, and it is converted into a template the same way, with merge fields added and unsafe content stripped out. This is a useful route if the design you want to reuse lives in a document or an old listing draft rather than on a live eBay page.

Why the design is rebuilt rather than copied exactly

eBay does not allow active content such as scripts, and it does not allow prices or promotional pricing to be hard-coded into listing HTML. Because of this, DashVue does not import a listing’s markup untouched. The converter strips anything that would put the listing at risk and replaces the fixed details with merge fields, so the template stays eBay-safe and can be applied to more than one item.

Publishing what you build

Converting a listing only creates and edits a template. To push a template out to a live listing on eBay, or to publish a new listing built from it, you need a Full Access eBay connection. A read-only connection lets you draft and preview templates, but it cannot publish or push changes back to eBay. DashVue publishes fixed-price, Buy It Now listings, so a converted template is not used to create auction-style listings.
