Change your design by asking: Ask DashVue in the designer

Use Ask DashVue in the listing designer to request design changes in plain English, preview before and after, then approve or discard.

The Ask AI tab in the listing designer lets you change a design by typing a plain-English request instead of hunting through style controls. This article covers what you can ask for, how the before/after preview and approval step work, the apply without asking toggle, and the limits you should know about before you rely on it.

What Ask DashVue does in the designer

While you are working on a design in the listing designer, open the Ask AI tab and type what you want changed in plain English, for example “make the title bigger” or “use a dark theme”. DashVue turns that request into a design change and shows you a before and after preview so you can see exactly what would change before it happens to your design.

How to ask for a change

  1. Open the design you are working on in the listing designer and switch to the Ask AI tab.
  2. Type your request in plain English. Be specific about what you want, for example a font size, a colour, a layout change, or a general style such as “dark theme”.
  3. Review the before and after preview DashVue generates from your request.
  4. Approve the change to apply it to your design, or discard it to leave the design exactly as it was.

Nothing is applied until you approve it, unless you have turned on the apply without asking toggle described below.

Apply without asking

If you find yourself approving every request without changes, you can turn on the apply without asking toggle. With it on, DashVue applies your requested changes to the design straight away instead of stopping for you to review a preview and approve it each time. Leave it off if you would rather check the before and after preview before every change lands.

Merge fields and your live listings

Ask DashVue only changes the visual design, things like layout, colours, and text size. Any merge fields already set up in your template, the placeholders that pull in details such as price, condition, or postage from each listing, are always kept as they are. An AI-requested design change will not strip out or overwrite those placeholders.

This edits the design, not your live listings

Ask DashVue changes the design you are currently working on. It does not touch listings you have already published on eBay. Applying the updated design to a real listing is a separate, normal publish step, and pushing changes to eBay needs a Full Access eBay connection. A read-only connection can view and draft but cannot publish.

Tips for better results

Ask for one change at a time

You will usually get a cleaner preview to judge if you ask for one clear change at a time, for example “make the title bigger”, rather than several unrelated requests bundled into one message. If a result is not what you wanted, discard it and try rephrasing the request.

Asking Ask DashVue for a design change uses part of your monthly AI actions allowance, the same allowance used across DashVue’s AI features. Every account includes a monthly allowance, with optional packs available if you need more.
