Design your listing with the visual designer
Build a reusable eBay listing template with DashVue's drag and drop visual designer: blocks, styles, layers and images.
The visual designer is a drag and drop canvas for building the layout of an eBay listing template, without writing any HTML or CSS. This article walks through the canvas, the ready-made blocks, styling individual elements and the whole layout, managing layers, adding images, and previewing and saving your work.
Opening the designer and understanding the canvas
The visual designer gives you a blank canvas that represents the body of your listing. You build the layout by dragging ready-made blocks onto the canvas, then arranging, styling and filling them in. As you work, the canvas shows you a live view of the layout you are building.
Working with the tools: Content, Blocks, Style, Body, Layers and Images
Around the canvas, the designer is organised into a set of tabs that each control a different part of the design:
- Content and Blocks. Drag ready-made blocks, such as text, image and layout sections, from the Blocks panel onto the canvas to start building your template’s structure.
- Style. Select any element you have placed on the canvas and use the Style panel to change its individual look, such as its colours, spacing or size.
- Body. Use the Body settings to control global options that apply to the whole template: overall width, background colour, font, and link colour. These settings give your template a consistent look rather than styling one element at a time.
- Layers. The Layers panel lists every element in your template in a tree, so you can select, reorder or find an element that is hard to click directly on the canvas.
- Images. Add an image to your template by entering its URL rather than uploading a file directly in the designer.
Previewing and saving your template
Once your layout is in place, use Preview to see how the template will look, including a desktop and a mobile view, before you commit to it. When you are happy with the design, use Save to store it as a reusable listing template.
A saved template is not applied to your live listings
Saving in the visual designer creates or updates a reusable template, it does not push that design onto any listings you already have live on eBay. Apply the template to new or existing listings from the listing builder itself. The designer also has no raw HTML or CSS code view: all layout and styling is done through the blocks, Style, Body and Layers tools described above.
Publishing and account access
DashVue is eBay UK only and works with a single connected eBay account. Publishing a listing that uses your template needs a Full Access eBay connection, a read-only connection lets you draft and view listings but cannot publish changes to eBay. DashVue publishes fixed-price, Buy It Now listings, it does not create auctions.
