Listing templates: save your style, footer and go-to condition once

Create listing templates in DashVue to save your writing style, default condition, seed item specifics and footer, so AI applies them every time.

This article shows you how to create, edit and delete listing templates in DashVue, and how a template bundles together the writing style, default condition, seed item specifics and footer you want every new listing to start with, so you set them up once instead of retyping them each time.

What a template stores

A listing template is a saved starting point for new listings. You set it up once, then pick it whenever you generate a new listing. A template can store:

  • Name: whatever helps you tell templates apart, for example “Trainers, my usual setup”.
  • Writing style: a tone for AI to write in, such as Friendly, Concise, Detailed or Professional, or you can leave it on the default with no style override.
  • Default condition: a go-to condition (New, Used, Very Good, and so on) that is applied automatically when you use this template.
  • Seed item specifics: field and value pairs that every listing made with this template should include, for example Brand: Acme.
  • Footer: a block you build once, added to the bottom of every description made with this template, such as your usual postage, returns or about wording.
  • A saved design (optional): a template can also carry a saved design from the visual designer, which controls how the whole description is laid out, not just the footer.

Create a template

  1. Go to Templates in DashVue.
  2. Click New template.
  3. Give it a Name.
  4. Choose a Writing style, if you want AI to write listings from this template in a particular tone.
  5. Choose a Default condition, if this template is usually used for items in the same condition.
  6. Add any Seed item specifics you want included automatically, entering a field and a value for each one.
  7. Build your Footer. You can add it block by block, or paste an existing description and let AI convert it into editable blocks for you to fine-tune.
  8. Turn on “Use this template by default” if you want this template preselected whenever you generate a listing.
  9. Click Create template to save it.

Add a saved design too

From the templates screen you can also open the visual designer to build a saved design for a template, controlling the layout of the whole description rather than just the footer.

Edit, delete and set a default template

  • Edit: open a template and choose Edit to change its name, writing style, default condition, seed item specifics or footer, then save your changes.
  • Set as default: choose Set default on any template to make it the one preselected when you generate a listing. Only one template can be the default at a time.
  • Delete: choose delete and confirm. Deleting a template does not change listings you already made with it, their content stays as it is.

Templates guide AI, they are not eBay forms

A template is not an eBay listing form, and it is not pushed to your live listings on its own. It only guides what AI writes the next time you generate a listing with it selected: the writing style, condition, seed specifics and footer are applied to that new draft, which you still review and publish yourself.
