Understanding Your Listing Quality Score

How DashVue's 0 to 100 listing quality score is worked out, what each of the five weighted parts means, and how to raise it.

Every listing you build in DashVue shows a live quality score out of 100 in the builder’s right-hand panel. This article explains how that score is calculated, what each part measures, and how to use the “Biggest wins” tips to raise it before you publish.

What the score measures

The listing quality score is a 0 to 100 mark that DashVue calculates as you build or edit a listing. It updates live as you type, so you can see straight away whether a change to your title, photos or description helped or hurt your score.

The score is made up of five weighted parts. Some carry much more weight than others, so fixing the heavy ones moves the needle furthest:

  • Title: 30 points
  • Item specifics: 25 points
  • Photos: 20 points
  • Description: 15 points
  • Keywords: 10 points

Add those up and you get your total score out of 100. Because title and item specifics together make up more than half the score, a vague title or a handful of blank specifics fields will hold your score down more than a slightly short description will.

The score never looks at price

The listing quality score only looks at how well a listing is written and filled in. It does not check whether your price is competitive, too high, or too low. A perfectly priced listing can score poorly if the title is thin, and a beautifully written listing can still be priced badly. Use the score for listing quality, and check pricing separately.

The score bands

Your total score sorts into one of three bands, shown as a coloured bar in the builder:

  • Strong: the listing is well filled in across most or all of the five parts.
  • Good: solid, but there is a clear part or two worth improving.
  • Needs work: at least one part is thin or missing, and it’s worth fixing before you publish.

The band is a quick visual read of your total score, so you don’t need to do the maths yourself while you’re building.

The five parts, in detail

Title (30 points)

The heaviest-weighted part. eBay buyers and search mostly work from your title, so a clear, keyword-rich title that describes the item, brand, and key details (size, colour, model) scores best.

Item specifics (25 points)

These are the structured fields eBay recommends for your category, such as brand, colour, size or material. Filling in more of the recommended specifics raises this part of the score, since eBay uses specifics heavily for search filtering and matching.

Photos (20 points)

This part reflects how many photos you’ve added and how complete your image set looks. More photos of the item, from useful angles, score higher than a single image.

Description (15 points)

A clear, reasonably detailed description that explains the item (condition, features, what’s included) scores better than a one-line or empty description.

Keywords (10 points)

This checks whether your listing includes relevant search terms beyond the title itself, for example in the description, so buyers searching with different words can still find the listing.

Using the Biggest wins tips

Alongside the score, DashVue shows “Biggest wins”, a short list of the specific changes that would raise your score the most from where the listing currently stands. Because the five parts carry different weights, the biggest win is usually whichever heavily weighted part (title or item specifics) is currently weakest, rather than a smaller fix to a lightly weighted part like keywords.

  1. Open a listing in the builder.
  2. Check the quality score and band in the right-hand panel.
  3. Read the Biggest wins tips shown alongside the score.
  4. Make the suggested change (for example, filling in a missing item specific or adding another photo).
  5. Watch the score update live, then move to the next tip if you want to raise it further.

A guide, not a gate

The quality score is there to help you spot easy improvements before you publish. It doesn’t block or delay publishing, and a lower score won’t stop your listing from going live on eBay.

Requirements and limits

  • The listing quality score is shown in the listing builder on every DashVue plan (Starter, Growth and Scale).
  • The score covers title, item specifics, photos, description and keywords only. It does not evaluate price, shipping cost, or your business policies.
